Life doesn’t end at 65, nor does it cease to be meaningful and full of vigor. For some reason our society has had a stigma on aging and the elderly from the earliest recorded history of the United States of America.
Old is, after all, in the mind of the beholder. To be sure age does play havoc with some facets of life, and for that we have caregivers to aid in a dignified life; with some restrictions. Those caregivers are often family members; friends and neighbors pressed into service out of love and devotion. Professional caregiver’s go one step beyond and devote their life to others care, dignity and well-being.
Their stories are as diverse as is Chicago’s weather. But every generation has its own story and everyone within that generation has a tale to tell. We wish to honor those who have triumphs and failures to reveal, which will expose the soul of each generation. The essence of caregivers is a desire to help, we wish to divulge their reasons and show their compassion as well.
We are the storytellers and as such will record and present these biographies to preserve the memories and history of those who have seen, done, persevered and contributed so much to all of us. In doing this we hope to add enjoyment to the reader, as well as to inform.
